Based at our Residential and Commercial Office at North York, the HR Business Partner will be providing professional and administrative support to the Human Resource Department and providing HR advisory services to department managers and all employees and will be reporting directly to the Manager of Human Resources.
What you will do:
- Monitor and guide the extended HR team to ensure process adherence related to new hire onboarding, change, exits etc.
- Drive processes relating to the complete employee life cycle including new employee "touchpoints", benefit orientations, performance management, internal promotion and transfer offers, leave of absences and employee departures. Conduct and analyze exit interviews and new hire feedback interviews for purposes of identifying trends and patterns, and make recommendations to improve employee engagement and retention levels
- Maintain accurate records in compliance with the ESA and company policies and ensure compliance with all applicable legislation.
- Maintain knowledge of labor/union issues and best practices in order to promote positive labor relations. This includes working in union environment, understanding & managing through a CBA
- Employee and Labor Relations: Communicate any HR updates to employees, act as a point of contact for employees; handle all employee relation issues and assists in counselling and corrective actions, lead workplace investigations into workplace issues and submit reports, respond to employee queries regarding company policies, practices, programs, and processes relating to the employee experience
- Work with Operations and Health &Safety Manager in managing WSIB claims and participate in the return-to-work process ensuring employees transition safely into their pre-injury jobs
- Supports the development, maintenance and implementation of HR Policies and Process documentation. Prepares and maintains reports, tracking key HR metrics and analytics.
- Maintain HRIS system: Responsible for administering all hiring, terminating and maintenance of all employee information on the HRIS system. Conduct periodic audit of HRIS database for ensuring data accuracy.
- Manage specific projects as determined by the HR Senior Leadership Team and participate in functional and cross-functional initiatives.
- Maintain knowledge of progressive HR practices, continued business acumen and key trends.
- Other duties as assigned
Who you are:
- Completion of post-secondary education in Human Resources Management.
- 5-7 years of progressive Human Resources experience, with a minimum of 5 years of HR experience in a Generalist role.
- CHRP/CHRL designation is an asset.
- Knowledge and Experience in a Unionized environment is highly preferred
- Advanced knowledge and experience in MS Office especially MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with all related legislation including but not limited to E.S.A., Labour Relation Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, W.S.I.B, Human Rights Act etc.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills- both oral & written
- Excellent organizational, time management and interpersonal skills are essential
- Ability to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- A high attention to detail with the ability to act with discretion and confidentiality
- Experience in working in a unionized environment is an asset
